(Spring)

Newly created,
Bright, beautiful, peaceful:
The spring of Arda.

(Summer)

Young, curious Elves
prospering under mingled light
of silver and gold.

(Autumn)

Cherished remains,
trying to maintain glory
of failing hopes.

(Winter)

Dark, bereaved land
haunted by prophesied fate.
Yet hope remains.

small pearls of
wisdom and foreseen foreboding
perfectly balanced.

I was hoping you would end on a 'hopeful' note, and you did! :)

That works really well--both in itself and also I can really see it as the first piece of the compilation!

These are perfect little gems, and summarize the first part of the Silm precisely.

Wonderful imagery. I especially love the second one.

These are really beautiful :) I especially liked the second to last one, and hopeful note that the last one ended on!

I like it -- the most compact history of Middle-earth I've read. Clever use of seasons! :)

A formidable talent you have here, to be able to express so ingeniously, in such few words, this perfect blending of seasons and history. And to make it *sound* beautiful to the ear as well.

Exquisitely done!

Beautiful capturing of the atmosphere of the individual stages of the history of Arda with just a few words! It reminds me on Tolkien's poem "Trees of Kortirion" - the feeling of it is similar, although it is much longer.

I love Haiku's! I especially like the last line of this series. Leaving it there, with hope, seems very Tolkien. Great job!

I reread this a few times and love it dearly. I love how, in such few words you vividly paint all of Middle-earth's history.

Each and every haiku is concisely beautiful. You clearly chose your words carefully, and it shows. "Winter" is particularly poignant.

Beautiful but sad.
Well done to write in Haiku.
I'm not an Prose or Poetry scholar, but as an ordinary person they were lovely and meaningful to read.
