Summary: Tauriel travels east as a caravan guard not long before the Ring War, and learns that it is much more than just an empty spot on the map of Middle-earth.

Author's Notes: This fic took me and ran away with me, I really have no other excuse or explanation for what happened. It is the expansion of a ficlet in my Winterlights collection, in which Tauriel gets permission from Thranduil to accompany her lover, a travelling merchant, to her homeland of Dorwinion.
