Maglor has stopped playing music, and Fingon, here for a trip, is worried and tries to reach out to him. I'd love anything hopeful and optimistic, but dramatic and angsty goes, too. :D I love to see these two interacting in meaningful ways.

I have to buy this one. I hope I have enough money. I love writing references to the friendship between Maglor and Fingon in my own story!verse. Almost brothers (almost brothers-in-law). You get the point. This should be kicking in an open door so I know them so well in this context.

Maedhros and Defensive Architecture

The elves have left Valinor and arrived in Beleriand, a land of opportunity surrounded by enemies. How did elves who grew up in a land without need for major fortifications know/learn enough to build fortresses strong enough to withstand the forces of Morgoth as well as link to other fortifications, creating a line of defense across the landscape? Did they consult with Sindarin warriors? Did they have an intrinsic understanding of thick walls, arrow slots, draw bridges, portcullis entrances, etc? Was one style duplicated in all of the buildings by each "king" (brother) or was each construction totally distinct. Let your imagination go wild. At least one of the Sons of Feanor should be featured, but it doesn't have to be Maedhros.

In the The Lay of the Children of Húrin, Túrin asks Gwindor (then called Flinding) where they should go next. Gwindor replies:

"To Nargothrond of the Gnomes, methinks
[...] my feet would fain wander,
that Celegorm and Curufin, the crafty sons
of Fëanor founded when they fled southward;
there built a bulwark against Bauglir's hate."

What if Celegorm and Curufin really DID found Nargothrond in the final draft? What was Finrod doing instead? How does this change the history of Beleriand?

Maedhros and His Various Non-Elven Allies

during the Noldor's war against Morgoth, Maedhros saw the need for unity among the Noldor and among people outside of the elves as well. Several characters allied themselves with him, though these relationships were never really explored in the canon material. Amlach, Bor, Azaghal, who were these guys really, and how did they get along with Maedhros and the other elves? You can chose one of these guys, or all of them, whatever suits your fancy. Take it from whatever angle you want, let your imagination run free

I've been eyeing this prompt. It's a bit difficult for me to fill, because in fact I've already written about all of them: Amlach and Bor and Azaghal.
I did have a few more tentative thoughts about Bor or rather his people, though. Not sure whether I can do anything about them this March, but I've decided to buy the prompt anyway.

Tolkien tells us there are four "great lords of the Noldor": Fingolfin, Fingon, Maedhros, and Finrod Felagund. I want to hear about the four great ladies: Lalwen, Aredhel, Idril, and Galadriel.

What do they get up to in Beleriand, and what are their relationships with one another? Do any of them continue to communicate despite the distances between their separate realms? (Bonus points for including Edhellos and the other unnamed Noldorin wives.)

Gondolin: Meleth, nurse of Earendil

The only thing we know about Meleth is that her childrearing strategies involve threatening baby Earendil with "fiery Melko" when he misbehaves. Who is she, and how did she come to be Earendil's nurse? What were/are her relationships with Idril, Aredhel, or Elenwe?

I'd love to see a story portraying her as a citizen of Gondolin, taking part in life in the city, and with a life that doesn't necessarily revolve around the royal family.

So, I've been kind of fascinated by all these soulmate-identifying marks in other fandoms, and I think it could work well in this one! I think you could take this in a world-buildy or porny direction -- what's the Elven marriage structure like, what happens when a name written in different language appeals on your arm (or whereever?) Are Fingon and Maedhros each other's soul-mates, or not? Does it matter to them?

Was Maedhros' mark lost at Angband -- along with his right hand?

Finrod and Beren depart Nargothrond with ten companions: Finrod’s friend Edrahil, and nine others who are never named. Who are they, and why do they follow Finrod? Are all of them Noldorin? Are all of them men? (Not necessarily, would be my answer...)

Action/adventure set during the Saddest Roadtrip Ever would rock this prompt, as would backstory and/or worldbuilding fic set before they all get eaten by wolves! :D

One of my recent pet theories: Orodreth is the one who actually conspires to dethrone Finrod, and Curufin and Celegorm are just puppets. The entire fall of Beleriand was a pre-planned catastrophe. Why? He's Morgoth or Mandos in disguise. Obviously.

Bonus points for Feanorion/Orodreth. (Orodreth doms. Obviously.)

I would love crack, but if someone actually manages to pull this off seriously...

Because what do you get if one half of the fandom's most beloved slash pairing needs to marry and produce an heir for the House of Fingolfin? Perfect OT3 material, naturally. I like to think that Fingon wouldn't marry his Sindarin Lady of the North unless love were involved, and there's still Maedhros, whom he also loves, and with neither of them willing to settle for less... there's a perfect compromise.

Can be from any POV, and the smuttier this goes, the better!

Partly inspired by the prompt above, I'd like to see a fic where Tuor is Hurin's niece, or so everyone thinks, to begin with. Please note I don't want 'girl pretending to be a boy', I want Tuor really considering himself to be a man, just one born with annoying anatomical differences.

How we then get Earendil is a bit of a problem, but a surmountable one, I think!

Idril & Huor, gen, friendship/family relationship

It occurred to me that Huor ends up becoming Idril's father-in-law, posthumously, and also that Idril is probably one of the few people who can tell Tuor what his dad was like. I'd love to see a fic either about Huor and Idril interacting in some very sweet fluffy way that foreshadows their eventual relationship, or Idril telling Tuor about what his father was like as a young man (or both!)

I'm going to add a prompt to the Fingon and Maedhros love.

What if Fingon didn't die? How would it affect things?

If you go the path of him being Gil-Galad's dad, how does that go? What happens in the wars and battles with him still there?

If you go the path of him being with Maedhros romantically, what happens with that? Does he help to raise Elrond and Elros? Or does he help keep future kinslayings from happening?

So many other possibilities. Go ahead - bend a little canon.

Augh, this drifts way too close to where I'm taking my 'Union of Fingon & Maedhros' AU (but not close enough that I could incorporate it, unfortunately). But I'm picking it up anyway - there might be just a short fic with Fingon putting his foot down like, 'No. More. Kinslayings. For fuck's sake, Maitimo, and I mean that so very literally.'

Barahir and Emeldir, gen or het, darkness in Dorthonion

The description of how Dorthonion changed after Dagor Bragollach is so wonderfully creepy, as it gradually became "a region of such dread and dark enchantment that even the Orcs would not enter it unless need drove them" ("Of the Ruin of Beleriand" in the Silmarillion). But people were still living there. I would like to see something about the horrors of the forest, and how Barahir and Emeldir and their people tried to deal with it. I would enjoy seeing Barahir and Emeldir working together as leaders of their people. (Appearances of young Beren, Morwen or Rían optional but welcome.)

Beren and Luthien story, Finduilas POV

Finduilas must have been in Nargothrond during some very dramatic events associated with Beren and Lúthien's story, but canon says nothing of what she was doing or thinking during that time. I would like to see Finduilas's perspective on some of these events. (An incomplete list: the arrival of Beren with the Ring of Barahir, the betrayal of Finrod, Celegorm and Curufin seizing power in Nargothrond, their imprisonment of Lúthien and her escape, the return of the freed prisoners with news of Finrod's death, Orodreth's banishment of Celegorm and Curufin.)

I don't know about you, but I think Gil-Galad as Fingon's son is one of the most adorable apparent mistakes ever printed.

More of this mistake should happen. Write it. Draw it. We need more adorable moments.
