B2MeM Challenge: any character/pairing, good news from across the sea

Format: drabble

Genre: drama

Rating: G-ish?

Warnings: none

Characters: Maedhros ; (Maglor)

Pairings: none

Creators' Notes (optional): Just a quick drabble before bed.

Summary: Maedhros gets a message. Fourth age, after Maedhros is reborn.

The tide was coming in, but Maedhros did not move.  Water washed over his toes.  A bottle rested in his lap.  It was worn, polished smooth from the sea.  Long had it traveled.  As if fated, it came ashore as he was about to pass.

Once the cork was out, Maedhros tipped the bottle to release the roll of paper within.  He knew the sender without reading.  He did not need to read to know the news was good.

It was from Maglor, and it meant that he still lived.

The tide was coming in, but Maedhros did not move.

Thanks, Zhie for the news of the message! Short and sweet. Of course, Maedhros is waiting for him and, of course, he'd need a few moments to absorb this information.

I like this! The repetition is very effective here.

I love the unlikeliness of this - someone, somewhere, certainly wanted this to reach Maedhros!

I love this a lot. I had this sort of picture at the end, of the two of them on opposite sides of the Sea, unable to see each other of course, but Maedhros being glad just to know Maglor is still alive.

regretting that she doesn't play a Rune Master, but rather prefers playing her Hunter.

Oh, this was lovely. I love how the sea serves as an element of connection rather than separation here. Beautiful use of words as well; I always admire well-done drabbles, and this most definitely qualifies.

Such lovely imagery, and the repetition made this more like poetry than prose.

Oh, this is beautiful. What a nice way to communicate for the two of them, even though it is one-sided (as I assume). I wish I could draw and make this into fanart....
