Summary: Maedhros gets a message. Fourth age, after Maedhros is reborn.


The tide was coming in, but Maedhros did not move.  Water washed over his toes.  A bottle rested in his lap.  It was worn, polished smooth from the sea.  Long had it traveled.  As if fated, it came ashore as he was about to pass.

Once the cork was out, Maedhros tipped the bottle to release the roll of paper within.  He knew the sender without reading.  He did not need to read to know the news was good.

It was from Maglor, and it meant that he still lived.

The tide was coming in, but Maedhros did not move.

Oh, this is beautiful. What a nice way to communicate for the two of them, even though it is one-sided (as I assume). I wish I could draw and make this into fanart....
