Summary: "For though Sauron had passed, the hatreds and evils that he bred had not died, and the King of the West had many enemies to subdue before the White Tree could grow in peace."
Note: My assigned prompt was Melian, but because I am apparently a Geek and not just when it comes to Tolkien, my mind went to Thucydides' Melian Dialogue rather than the queen of Doriath. There are no maiar-handmaidens to be found here. Just Gondorians. (Also, knowledge of obscure Greek writings is purely optional. *g*)

Date: 2012-03-05 01:42 am (UTC)I also like the image of the high and mighty of Gondor imbibing a ton of wine and talking about chamber pots in the sky.
[And I am pleased to learn of the Melian Dialogue! There's something else for my infernal, er, eternal, er, ever-growing Amazon wishlist.]
