Title:  Took Blood Breeds True

Summary:  The night that Bilbo brought the Arkenstone from the Lonely Mountain, from Gandalf’s perspective.

He had been right to follow the impulse to bring Bilbo Baggins along on this quest, Gandalf thought, puffing on his pipe as he listened to Thranduil and Bard arguing about what should be done with the exhausted and frightened hobbit.

It had taken great courage for Bilbo to steal the Arkenstone out from under the noses of the belligerent dwarves--although just how the hobbit had managed to get away from the dwarven halls unseen was a question he intended to get an answer for as soon as practicable. 

Oh, yes, his friend, Old Gerontius Took, would be proud.

I just love it when Gandalf is proud of any of the hobbits and this is just lovely. Thank you for sharing it.
