Creator’s Notes (optional): I chose this prompt to write during the 2016 B2MeM Memories event, where all previous prompts were available for use, but I never managed it. Glad I had another chance at writing it!
Summary: Imrahil is impressed by the halflings' response to their first sight of the King.

Imrahil, standing left of the throne, watched with a smile as the two halflings approached the throne. They looked bewildered and embarrassed, judging by their blushing faces. They took in everything as they walked forward, obviously trying to seem at ease amidst the fluttering banners and armed men standing at attention. As they approached Aragorn's throne, Imrahil saw recognition dawn on their faces, and they ran to meet him.

"Strider, or I'm still asleep!" one of them exclaimed, and Imrahil marveled at such frankness and familiarity, that was yet courteous and honoring to the man who would soon be King.

So sweet. I always wish Tolkien had written more about Imrahil.

Hooray, I love to see hobbits through the eyes of others. This is a nice filling-out of this scene.

This made me wonder how much Imrahil knew about the Hobbits and their journey. Lovely switch of perspective, I can see him ask those questions.
