Format: Double drabble
Genre: Gen
Rating: Teen
Warnings: Fantastic slurs, anti-mutant violence
Characters: Feanor, Nerdanel
Pairings: None
Creator’s Notes: Crossover with X-Men. Changing names to fit the setting seemed a very Tolkien-ish thing to do, so I did. Aidan=Feanor, Andi=Nerdanel.
Summary: Mutant!Feanor runs across someone who might be able to help him.
“Maybe this will teach you. Goddamn mutie,” the smallest and meanest of the bullies muttered as he landed a lucky punch right into Aidan's gut.
“What are you kids doing?” a nearby voice boomed.
The other boys scattered. Aidan staggered in the opposite direction--he was likely to catch the worst of it if adults got involved.
“Psst! Over here!” somebody whispered in his ear.
He looked around. A small person made of clay, almost totally life-like but only a foot tall, gestured for him to follow. He did so, into an overgrown empty lot, into a patch of thorny bushes, where a girl around his age crouched. The clay figure melted into a pile of dirt as he reached her.
“Hey. I’m Andi. You alright?” she asked.
“Yeah, fine.”
She stood and examined his face. “That cut looks pretty bad. You got somewhere safe to go?”
He shrugged. “I guess.” Paused, then, “Just, my stepmom’s not a huge fan of--” Small flames danced across his fingertips.
She nodded, then dug a glossy pamphlet out of her back pocket that looked like it had been living there for a while. “Here. Just in case.”
Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, it advertised.
