Summary: Legolas wishes he'd never asked a question.  Lanatus is my own creation; I don't like him much, but like me he likes to get the facts right!

Too Much Information

“Did you hear the wind last night, Lanatus?”  Legolas asked his tutor.  “It was a hurricane!”

“No, no, no,” Lanatus corrected with exasperation. “A hurricane is quite different from mere wind.  It needs very specific conditions to form.  Warm, humid air above the seas is drawn up to the clouds.  It cools as it rises, and the turning of Arda causes the clouds to spin.  You might see a hurricane from the coves along the coast of Gondor, but never so far inland!”

“Oh.”  Legolas looked bemused and rather overwhelmed.  “I only asked if you heard the wind last night!”
