B2MeM Prompt, Card and Number: “Crossover 1” - G51: With an action/adventure film
Format: Double drabble
Genre: Adventure, Crossover
Rating: General
Warnings: No warnings apply
Characters: Bilbo Baggins
Pairings: None
Summary: Bilbo raids a tomb
Burgling was in his blood now, he supposed. Once he’d heard the men of Bree talking of the great treasures still hidden in the haunted ruins up north, he couldn’t quite put the matter out of his mind, until one day he found himself walking out his front door intending to see them for himself. He had no need of treasure as such, but the thought of adding another ancient weapon or magical trinket to his collection spurred him forward.
Thus far, the dangers he’d been warned of had not materialized. No ghosts or spirits or any terrors other than a few spiders no larger than his hand, which he didn’t even bother to dispatch.
The room he descended into now was paved with cracked marble tiles that threw back the light of his torch in fantastic patterns on the walls. Halfway across, one tile sank into the ground unexpectedly as he stepped on it, and something whistled across the room just above his head and stuck itself firmly into the wall.
The dart would have neatly punctured anyone taller. He made a note on his map and was sure to step quite a bit more carefully from then on.
