B2MeM Prompt, Card and Number: “Crossover 1” - I25: With a sci-fi themed TV show
Format: Double drabble
Genre: Crossover
Rating: General
Warnings: Egregious technobabble
Characters: Jean-luc Picard, William Riker, Data
Pairings: None
Creator’s Notes: Crossover with Star Trek: The Next Generation
Summary: The Enterprise has picked up something very shiny and very weird on its sensors
When the sensors began to collect readings of sufficient significance, Data invited the captain and first officer to his workstation to share what they'd discovered.
“During our approach I have been able to gather the following information on the anomaly: Based on its variation in luminosity, it appears to be in orbit around this planet, designated FS2125-544766-A.”
“The Federation in-system survey fleet hasn't made it out that far yet, have they?” Commander Riker inquired.
“That is correct, sir. Only telescopic images have been collected of the system so far. The radiation we have been able to detect is consistent with a point source no more than twenty centimeters in diameter; however, the frequency distribution is not consistent with any know stellar or quasi-stellar object.”
“Is there any indication whether it's natural or artificial?” Captain Picard asked.
“That is still unknown, sir. However, it may be of interest to note that it appears to be orbiting in tandem with what my visual processing algorithm has tentatively identified as--a ship.”
“Warp capable or no?” was the commander's immediate question.
“In fact, the vessel bears a strong resemblance to the crafts built by various pre-industrial civilizations for moderate to long oceanic voyages.”
“What?”
