Player Page Updated!
At long last, the player pages have been updated! Nowwe can all see how deep we're in it come March you can see the cards you've signed up to play all in one place. All card requests sent by this point should be reflected on your player page. (You can check your player page on the SWG or check your player page on MPTT.) Please look to make sure that you have all of the cards you've requested. My comods and I have received hundreds of B2MeM-related emails at this point, and mixups are bound to occur. If something doesn't look right, either leave me a comment here or drop me an email at DawnFelagund@gmail.com and I will fix it as soon as possible.
If you want to display your cards someplace (like your journal or personal website), you are welcome to "hotlink" to your player page on our server. If you need help doing this, just ask. As you earn stamps, we will update your player page so that you can see your progress (and everyone else's!).
FAQ: "Can I 'Unclaim' Cards?"
I've been asked by a couple of people now about "unclaiming" cards. Some of us went a little claim-crazy at the start of the challenge without realizing how many more awesome cards our card-creators would dream up. So ... can you "unclaim" a card?
Yes, with caveats. First of all, remember, you don't have to play a card, even if you claim it. You might claim 20 cards that look interesting but only have time or end up wanting to write for 2 or 3 of them. This is perfectly okay! :)
If you're absolutely certain that you don't want to play a card, I can remove it for you. However, I have to be perfectly honest that, with the popularity of this event and the constant backlog of BINGO cards and player page updates, this is a low-priority task for me, and the challenge may well begin with the cards you don't want still on your player page. If you want a card removed from your player page, just drop me an email at DawnFelagund@gmail.com, and I'll do my best to get this done for you.
Any other questions weighing on your mind? Please ask them here or drop me or one of the other B2MeM mods a PM or email! :)
Finally, for the numerically inclined ...
There are currently52 53* cards available (I have several more that will be posted within the next few days) that were created by 23 different card creators. That comes to a grand total of 1,248 different prompts/challenges!
There are currently 44 participants who have signed up to play. They have claimed a total of 309 cards (an average of 7 cards per participant).
* I accidentally overwrote the Dwarves of the First Age card when I uploaded an old version of the page. Sorry,
havamahal!

Date: 2012-02-13 12:33 am (UTC)Silmarils, Rings of Power, BINGO cards ...
Did you notice that's all Fëanor's fault?
- no Fëanor -> no Silmarils
- no Fëanor -> no Celebrimbor -> no Rings of Power
- no Fëanor (and his sons) -> no SWG -> no B2MeM -> no Bingo cards
Just wait till I get my hands on him...

Date: 2012-02-13 12:51 am (UTC)I'm working on a Feanatics BINGO card, and you just gave me an idea for one of the spaces!
Everything Good Can Be Credited to Feanor
(Everything bad, too, but that wouldn't belong on a Feanatics card!)
Just wait till I get my hands on him...
LMAO! >:^)

Date: 2012-02-13 02:22 am (UTC)Maybe I should reconsider making that AU card I've been working on afterall - just to balance the things. "World without Fëanorians." /~erase Fëanor and/or his sons from Tolkien's world and show how would the events of Arda unfold without them~/ That should please people, who don't like them. ;) (And make them realise how important they really are.)
Just imagine Sons of Fëanor never attacking Doriath. Elwing never has to escape Doriath, doesn't meet Eärendil, Elrond and Elros are never born, there's no Númenor, no Gondor, no Aragorn, no Arwen, no one helps Bilbo and his companions on their Quest, Bilbo never gets the Ring (if the Rings of Power are even made!) and so on.
Or the story about Beren and Lúthien. No Silmarils, no quest? Or if Silmarils are made by someone else, no Celegorm and Curufin and no Huan?
Why would Noldor leave Aman? Would they leave at all? Would Kinslaying ever happen? Would they still cross Helcaraxë? Would the ships still burn?
Who would end up on Thangorodrim instead of Maedhros? Fingolfin?
Shelob and Frodo without the phial of Galadriel?
Would the Valar show any mercy to Eärendil, if he came to Valinor without one of the Silmarils?
Would Denethor be more sane, if palantír wouldn't exist? Would he survive the War? What about Saruman without his palantír?
Who would make the Rings of Power? Who would make Silmarils?
Would Galadriel be the mightiest of Noldor, if Fëanor never existed?
But my favourite has to be Aredhel as Huan's mistress instead of Celegoorm. I think they'd get along quite nicely.
Oh, and no desire to see C&C, no marriage to Eöl, no Maeglin, no fall of Gondolin? Now where's the fun in that?
Oh, who am I kidding? This will never be done. :(( I'm terrible at making prompts.
Just ignore this, please.

Date: 2012-02-13 07:05 pm (UTC)The Feanorians are really responsible for the very fact that we have a story at all! :) If Feanor hadn't taken the Noldor back to Middle-earth, then Melkor would have run roughshod over the people there again, there'd be no Earendil, no War of Wrath, none of the many positive things that came from the Feanorians' role in the world that you point out! To me, this has always been an example of the larger theme that even bad things (like kinslayings) end up doing good or beautiful things in the end.

Nope. I'm just being realistic.
