B2MeM Challenge: Alternate Viewpoints: Helm's Deep; Poetic Forms: Acrostic
Format: Verse
Genre: Gen
Rating: G
Warnings: For inept versifying
Characters: HUOOOOORNS!
Summary: Ents become wild, ancient wood-wardens.

It walked the forests long ago

Hate filled their hearts as they waited and weathered.
Ents become wild, ancient wood-wardens.
Long their loathing smouldered unsated, till
Making their move, in darkness they drew
Saruman’s slaves beneath their branches.

Death they dealt out in the Deeping-coomb.
Early light came to a corpse-cleared valley,
Enemy-emptied, silent and still.
Peace lay like leaves on a land made pure.

Ooh, I love the alliteration! Very Old English. Well done.

Very descriptive. I like the line, 'Enemy-empied, silent and still.'

Marveloud. I didn't choose the poetry card because I didn't know a lot of the forms. I wasn't familiar with this one until I saw your piece here. Now I know....
