Use of the bookkeeper is strictly voluntary. If you wish to keep track of your farthings on your own, that’s perfectly fine. If you wish to have [livejournal.com profile] zopyrus's help, you must post here.

The bookkeeper can help you with keeping track of how many farthings you have, help you figure out how many reviews or services you need to make to get out of debt (for example, if you offer too many prompts), and similar things.

If you wish to use the bookkeeper, please comment to this post with the following information:

Number of prompts offered:
Number of prompts purchased:
Number of reviews given:
Number of services given:
What you need help with (double-checking, debt, etc.):

Any further comments you make for help should be posted as a reply to your original comment thread.

WANT TO KNOW HOW TO STOP COUNTING?

Write a comment on a ficlet or short story every time you want to spend a farthing. I just realized that if I comment at my regular pace that I would never be able to spend enough in a month to go virtually broke. I could argue also it is more in the give-and-take spirit of a community-wide shared event also to comment as well as make and use up prompts--but I will not argue that here!

Yep, I will probably be in the same situation. I don't expect to claim more than two or three prompts, and I might "sell" as many. I'll write way more comments than that.

You've also created banners! So you get 2 farthings each for those. So you'll probably end the month rich in farthings ... but the thought is that those who do give back to the community (through supporting other writers, volunteering, etc) shouldn't have to worry about claiming prompts or writing them. There have certainly been B2MeMs where everyone is so busy writing and posting that pieces get very few comments, and while preventing that wasn't a stated aim of the farthing system, I think it will certainly help. After all, this isn't just about writing like a mad fiend for a month; it is also about meeting new people and supporting each other! :)

Adding that I probably won't keep track of my comments for the simple fact that I doubt I'll need that many farthings so it won't be worth the bother. If it turns out I do, I can go back through old entries and count them up.

Thanks, Dawn. I do not know about others, but I do fall into safe reading habits--reading the tried and true writers I whose work I know I like. B2MeM might be a chance to experiment a little.

All very true! I planned from the very beginning to use up my 15 farthings on prompts early on, since if I read and comment at the rate I did last march, getting them back will be no problem at all.

Now if only it were so easy to cash in on time and creativity! For those, I still need to pace myself. :)

This month is always hard for me because I write slowly, very slowly. So either I write a lot of throwaway-crap ficlets that I cringe at when I see again. Or I can do graphics/photomanips (at a pretty low artistic level!). I don't need more prompts--my plot-bunny hutch is overcrowded and my number of major WIPs is ridiculous. So commenting and prompting are fun for me.
