Vaire’s Weavings

Tapestries and fine woolen fabrics woven in the Legendary Lands of the West  (This is the stall for all prompts set in Aman, from the Years of the Trees to the Fourth Age and beyond.)

Comments are now closed but you can continue using the prompts; no claiming is necessary.

How to Post your Prompts:

Leave a comment with the subject line identifying the main characters, gen/het/slash/femslash/poly (if it’s not obvious), a brief description of the prompt, and possible warnings if needed (MPTTor SWG’s). The comment itself should be the prompt.

If for some reason you cannot make a subject line appear, please write and bold the relevant information as the first line of your prompt.

The subject lines and/or bold text will allow participants to easily scan for prompts they're interested in.

For example:

Subject line-- Frodo and Aragorn, gen, hurt/comfort at the Field of Cormallen
Comment-- While Frodo is unconscious after being rescued from Mount Doom, Aragorn cares for him.

OR

Comment-- Fëanor/Nerdanel, wedding night, sexual content

On their wedding night, Fëanor and Nerdanel end up not sleeping at all, as they are too busy enjoying each other.

Remember, no fanworks are to be posted in the prompts posts.

The Silmarillion and the Iliad

Whenever I read the Silmarillion I always think about how similar it is to many Greek epic poems. I am particularly fascinated by the similarities between Fëanor and Achilles. I'd love to read something that contains the first line of the Iliad, changed to reflect the Tolkien’s mythos: “Sing, O muse, of the rage of Fëanor, son of Finwe, that brought countless ills upon the Noldor.” The story can be either gen or with whatever pairing you like.

Bonus points if you manage to include someone as King Agamemnon!

Here's a farthing. I really, really want to do this!

I think I might have other ideas of how to arrange a Silmarillion-based story to fit in with The Iliad.

I have a Silmarillion-and-Iliad idea that is not really / only VERY vaguely related to your prompt, but I'll buy the prompt anyway to cover all bases! :) *hands over a farthing*
