But what about the women that are left behind to defend their homes? What about those women who choose the life of a Ranger? What sort of friendships and bonds form among them? Pretty much any fic about the lives of Dunedain ladies would make me happy.

Creators' Notes (optional): This is part of an AU where Faramir is Aragorn's son due to Ecthelion II's desire for a second grandson. He commands Finduilas to trick Thorongil into bed with her. This is mentioned, but the scene is not shown. It is an AU of my friend Susana's "Desperate Hours" AU and therefore uses her reasoning for how Aragorn could be Faramir's birth father.

This is a Prologue to "Isildurchil Dithen", where instead of (as Susana says in DH) Aragorn finding out his Steward is his son when the Ring War is over, he finds out when Faramir is a child.

Summary: Finduilas is dying. Her greatest love was born from her greatest sin. Now she is beyond saving - and beyond punishment - so she must provide for her five-year-old child with her deathbed confession. What will her onetime heart-brother, Captain Thorongil, do about this betrayal?
