B2MeM Challenge: Wildcard (finish something); [from 2012] Song Lyrics, B7: “Now the light is slowly beckoning you to the shore” - Karine Polwart - The Light on the Shore
Format: double drabble
Genre:
Rating: G
Warnings: Canonical character death
Characters: Denethor, OC
Pairings: Denethor/Finduilas
Summary: A last farewell to Finduilas from one of her handmaidens.

Note: Sneaking in (sneaking, Precious) with another thing that I somehow didn't finish editing and post last year (though it's only 200 words, so I don't know what my excuse was. Maybe I didn't want to think of a title?). I hope seeing those Bingo card prompts again doesn't give anyone bad memories.

Title: Profanation
Author: Dwimordene
Summary: Economic Imperialism does Middle-earth 3. Piety does not justice make.
Rating: T
Characters: OCs
Prompts: Day 15 prompt: "But in the midst of the land was a mountain tall and steep, and it was named the Meneltarma, the Pillar of Heaven, and upon it was a high place that was hallowed to Eru Ilúvatar, and it was open and unroofed, and no other temple or fane was there in the land of the Númenóreans."
Personal Insanity Prompts: From Himring: “We're sort of encouraged to believe that "the Meneltarma ritual" was the right approach for the Numenoreans and falling away from it was heresy. Is that so? Yes/No/Maybe/Sometimes? Additional elements: a descendant of the House of Beor who is not of the line of Elros (such as e.g. Erendis), a mallorn nut.” Linda Hoyland asked for justice, the economy, and kaftans (okay, and also Faramir and fatherhood, which didn’t happen).
Warnings: Relies on some fanon I’ve developed about the Haradrim over time. Probably the one that you can read the quickest to get the gist is this drabble set: Strange Fire.

Here is a VERY late entry; it is late for the [livejournal.com profile] lotr_community March 2012 challenge; it is late for the January 2013 potluck and it is late for the 2012 B2MeM Bingo Challenge. It was finished, mostly, for yesterday's B2MeM Wildcard challenge to finish something. I cleaned it up today for posting, and then got a bunch of formatting errors when I previewed, so now it is even later.

B2MeM Challenge: Overcoming Obstacles

'Yes,' said Gandalf. 'I never told him, but its worth was greater than the value of the whole Shire and everything in it.'

Frodo said nothing, but he put his hand under his tunic and touched the rings of his mail-shirt. He felt staggered to think that he had been walking about with the price of the Shire under his jacket. Had Bilbo known? He felt no doubt that Bilbo knew quite well. It was indeed a kingly gift."

Warnings: none
Characters: Frodo,Bilbo
Pairings: none

B2MeM 2013 Day NineteenBelow are three prompts, one from each of the three major eras of Arda’s history. To participate, choose one that sounds interesting, locate the quote in the books (that’s the scavenger hunt bit!), read the surrounding passage or chapter, and create your piece based on that.

Your piece does not need to be based on the scene from the quote. While this is certainly one approach, you could also write about a character, location, or theme found in the scene. Remember, there’s no prompt police, and we encourage creative use of the prompts!

B2MeM 2013 Day Nineteen "Fëanor and his sons abode seldom in one place for long, but travelled far and wide upon the confines of Valinor, going even to the borders of the Dark and the cold shores of the Outer Sea, seeking the unknown."

B2MeM 2013 Day Nineteen "The building of the chief city of Eregion, Ost-in-Edhil, was begun in about the year 750 of the Second Age [the date that is given in the Tale of Years for the founding of Eregion by the Noldor]."

B2MeM 2013 Day Nineteen "He spoke then in a great voice the Oath of Eorl. This he said in the tongue of the Éothéod, which in the Common Speech is interpreted:

Hear now all peoples who bow not to the Shadow in the East, by the gift of the Lord of the Mundburg we will come to dwell in the land that he names Calenardhon, and therefore I vow in my own name and on behalf of the Éothéod of the North that between us and the Great People of the West there shall be friendship for ever: their enemies shall be our enemies, their need shall be our need, and whatsoever evil, or threat, or assault may come upon them we will aid them to the utmost end of our strength. This vow shall descend to my heirs, all such as may come after me in our new land, and let them keep it in faith unbroken, lest the Shadow fall upon them and they become accursed."
