From: [identity profile] heartofoshun.livejournal.com
Username/nickname: Oshun, Heartofoshun
Location (as general or specific as you prefer): Brooklyn, New York USA

Favorite characters: Noldorin elves, Finweans in particular: Maedhros, Fingon, Nerdanel, Feanor, Finrod, Aredhel, Idril, Maglor, etc., etc. Also like Tuor, Elrond, Gil-galad, and so many more. I am a real Silmarillion geek. But still interested in LotR. Faramir fan.
How you participate in fandom (fic reading or writing, art, etc.): fanfic and non-fiction writing, reading, a fair amount of research relating to Tolkien sources and interesting Tolkien scholarship.
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): I favor First Age, Second Age, and Elves. I especially like longer stories. I like Rivendell-centered Third Age stories, Gil-galad-centered and Ost-in-Edhil Second Age stuff. I am mad about Tolkien fanart of all sorts, with the exception of Hobbit movie-centered stuff.
Link(s) to your fanworks (SWG, MPTT, DeviantArt, AO3, etc.): my stuff at Silmarillion Writers Guild (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewuser.php?uid=11), my stuff at AO3 (https://archiveofourown.org/users/Oshun/work)
Other fandoms you participate in: In addition to The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings (which are my first and home fandoms) I have written fanfics based in the Swordspoint Series by Ellen Kushner, Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire, the Alexander Trilogy, The Charioteer, and The Last of the Wine by Mary Renault, The Queen's Thief by Megan Whalen Turner, Shakespeare's Richard II, The Lion in Winter (1968 movie), Howl Series by Diana Wynne Jones, Thor (Movies), and one shortie for The Hobbit.
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): under heartofoshun at Tumblr and Dreamwidth. I do not use Dreamwidth much, but will follow you there if you are inflexible about using it exlusively.
Non-fandom interests: books, cooking, photography, my family, New York City, and sort of a history and literature nerd.

How often and what do you post: constantly horsing around on LJ--post a lot of photos and graphics and personal updates; always yammering about my writing and fannish interests--not to mention life in the big city and my family.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: more or less daily.
Friending policy: I like to know something about the people I friend so I can be somewhat free to talk about my personal stuff--tend to be a pretty liberal friender in the end, however.

To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote?

Then when Fingon heard afar the great trumpet of Turgon his brother, the shadow passed and his heart was uplifted, and he shouted aloud: 'Utúlie'n aurë! Aiya Eldalië ar Atanatári, utúlie'n aurë! The day has come! Behold, people of the Eldar and Fathers of Men, the day has come!' And all those who heard his great voice echo in the hills answered crying: 'Auta i lómë! The night is passing!'

Favorite characters: Voronwe, Gwindor, Finrod, Andreth, Maeglin, Orodreth, Maglor, Daeron, Finarfin, Earwen, Gil-galad… I don't know, so many more, I'm sure I missed someone important to me
How you participate in fandom (fic reading or writing, art, etc.): fic reading and writing (also drawing once in a blue moon but yeah, no)
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): Mostly Silmarillion fan. I used to be more into LotR, I'm not quite sure what happened there? I like hurt/comfort (yess, give me all the h/c), angst, drama, friendship/sibling feels, crack pairings/unconventional pairings taken seriously, and sometimes family, romance and fluff (especially if mixed with any of the other genres/tropes). As far as ships go, some favourites are Finrod/Turgon, Finrod/Curufin, Voronwe/Tuor, Maeglin/Tuor/Idril, Maeglin/Celebrimbor, Beleg/Mablung, Maglor/Daeron, Maedhros/Fingon, Finarfin/Earwen, Celebrimbor/Post Angband!Gwindor. I also love Tolkien fanarts of all sorts :3
Link(s) to your fanworks (SWG, MPTT, DeviantArt, AO3, etc.): AO3, SWG
Other fandoms you participate in: Fae Tales, occasionally Dragon Age (and some others, but I'm not really active there)
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): Tumblr: My fandom tumblr is here
Non-fandom interests: theatre (the amateur sort, both acting myself and going to see plays), some PC gaming, pen & paper roleplaying if I can get around to it, beautiful books/notebooks

How often and what do you post: very infrequently. I reblog a lot of fanart on tumblr, but meta or personal stuff - so rarely it's basically never.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: I literally registered on LJ three days ago or so, so eh, I'm not even a 100% sure friend-lists mean what I think it means ;P I am on and off on tumblr, depending on time and mood. I try to leave some sort of feedback on every fanfic read nowadays, and I'm working on commenting more, but I'm a chicken
Friending policy: …this is a LJ thing too, right? I guess it's fine to send me friend requests though it'd be nice to know why (e.g. because you read this thingie here or whatever) Also you're welcome to follow my tumblr, though I admit I'll not always follow back, especially if I don't know you, because my dash is too full already as it is…

To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote? I don't really have one favourite quote, but this is the first I could think of: "I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil."

From: [personal profile] dreamflower
Username/nickname:[livejournal.com profile] dreamflower02, Dreamflower
Location (as general or specific as you prefer): Oklahoma

Favorite characters: Hobbits, Gandalf, but I love most of Tolkien's characters
How you participate in fandom (fic reading or writing, art, etc.): I read and write fanfic, write essays and meta on occasion, co-moderate several communities and one archive, create fandom related crafts and art
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): Hobbits and the Shire in general are my main interest. I love thinking and writing about the culture of the Shire and family relationships. I also very much enjoy stories that take place on the various adventures hobbits went on. But I do also have a fondness for wizards, Elves, Dwarves and Men...
Link(s) to your fanworks (SWG, MPTT, DeviantArt, AO3, etc.): Stories of Arda, MPTT, FFN, and AO3. The latter two also contain my tiny handful of non-Tolkien works. Oh, and I have two works at the SWG.
Other fandoms you participate in: I read a lot of stories in other fandoms, especially HP, BtVS, and crossovers. But I've only written just a few stories for other fandoms, probably less than a dozen all told, all fairly short one-shots and usually written as a gift or for a special challenge.
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): I mostly use the ones mentioned and LJ. I don't even keep up my Facebook page; I do use DW as a back-up for my LJ, but usually only post there if there is a problem on LJ.
Non-fandom interests: Crafting--especially calligraphy, polymer clay and various kinds of needlework and fabric arts; cooking; reading; gardening.
How often and what do you post: Intermittently, depending on how things are going in RL. I occasionally post every day, but sometimes can go a month without a post. As for what, it's usually a mix of fannish and personal stuff; right now I am trying very hard to make one post a day about something thought-provoking or positive for Lent.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: Daily. I'm a much more frequent commenter than poster.
Friending policy: I will friend people whose posts catch my interest, and also I will eventually friend people back who friend me. Sometimes I don't realize that I have NOT friended someone, LOL! If I see them frequently in comments on my flist or in comms, I sometimes assume we are already friended. I hardly ever unfriend someone unless they've deleted their LJ, though if I have them friended under multiple accounts, I may cut them back to only one.
To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote? Oh, I have so MANY! Some are too long to post here, but this is one of them: "The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is mow mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater." Spoken by Haldir to Merry, in Lothlorien, and as apt in our own world as in Arda.

How you participate in fandom (fic reading or writing, art, etc.): A little bit of this, a little bit of that. Mostly writing fic and providing commentary.
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): First Age Elves & Men 4 lyf.
Link(s) to your fanworks (SWG, MPTT, DeviantArt, AO3, etc.): AO3, SWG, drawing tag on Tumblr.
Other fandoms you participate in: Too many to list! MCU (alright, Cap fandom), Shakespeare, Greek myths, Narnia at certain phases of the moon, The Charioteer, sometimes.
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): Tumblr linked above, I'm also moetushie on DW.
Non-fandom interests: ART, both making and appreciating, reading, cooking, baking, road trips, American history, ghost stories.
How often and what do you post: Usually daily.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: I read everyday, I comment when I can.
Friending policy: If you crosspost to DW, I'd love to add you over there!

To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote?
“Faërie contains many things besides elves and fays, and besides dwarfs, witches, trolls, giants, or dragons; it holds the seas, the sun, the moon, the sky; and the earth, and all things that are in it: tree and bird, water and stone, wine and bread, and ourselves, mortal men, when we are enchanted.”

From: [personal profile] dawn_felagund
Username/nickname: Dawn Felagund, but just Dawn is fine
Location (as general or specific as you prefer): on top a big ol' hill in Manchester, Maryland, USA

Favorite characters: the Fëanorians, the House of Finarfin, Anairë, Pengolodh, Námo Mandos
How you participate in fandom: I began as a writer and still think of myself primarily as a writer. I write stories, the occasional poem, and nonfiction/meta. I am also the founder and owner of the Silmarillion Writers' Guild and a moderator on Many Paths to Tread and here on B2MeM. I of course read as much fanfic as I have time for, and I try to comment on everything I read.
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks: I read and write 99% Silmfic. I love the Elves, especially the Noldor, especially the House of Finwë. I am fascinated by the question of what makes great people fall; that's what started me writing Silmfic, and I feel like, a decade later, I am still working to answer that. I am also interested in how reading The Silmarillion (and the other works) as works of history, subject to historical bias, can affect how the story is understood.
Link(s) to your fanworks: Most of my work is on the SWG. The rare non-Silmfic that I write would end up on MPTT and/or AO3 (I also try to archive my Silmfics there, when appropriate.) My blog is The Heretic Loremaster.
Other fandoms you participate in: Nope. Strictly monofandom unless one counts once writing a Silmarillion/Lovecraft crossover.
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): I'm like fleas on the dog. I'm on Dreamwidth. I'm on Tumblr. I'm on Twitter. LJ and DW tend to be for more personal stuff. Tumblr and/or Twitter are the places to follow for updates on my writing and fannish stuff if you don't want the noise of my RL babblings.
Non-fandom interests: I'm a graduate student studying Old English literature. To get off my duff and out from in front of the computer, I bellydance, snowshoe, freestyle rollerskate, and pump mad iron at the gym, but not all at the same time. Before grad school ate my life, I practiced medieval-style calligraphy and illumination. I would read all day if someone would let me. I'll read anything that's well-written, caring more about art than genre. I love movies. I am interested in sustainability, particularly sustainable agriculture, so if you want to talk soil science or beekeeping, then I'm your gal.

How often and what do you post: Right now, I don't post a lot at all because I am literally at the midway point of my Master's thesis as I type this. But, when I get my life back at the end of April, I hope to resume posting at least every few days. Here on LJ/DW, I post mostly about real life stuff: my teaching career, gardening and beekeeping, my family, my dogs, my travels. I try to link to my fannish stuff here and plan to do better with that once I have more free time.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: Right now? Barely at all. But when I'm not writing an MA thesis, I try to read my flist daily.
Friending policy: I will friend back anyone from the Tolkien fandom (aside from the few trolls/scary people I've bumped into over the years) or anyone who shares my interests. If I don't happen to friend you back--probably because an LJ glitch meant I wasn't notified--all you have to do is ask.

To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote? "Is sorrow foreboded to you? But in Aman we have seen it. In Aman we have come through bliss to woe. The other now we will try: through sorrow to find joy; or freedom, at the least." ~Fëanor

Username/nickname: I'm known as Amy Fortuna, but I'm 'E' to my friends.
Location (as general or specific as you prefer): Edinburgh, Scotland (though I'm originally from the USA).

Favorite characters: All of the House of Finwë! Basically all the Elves and Men of the First Age, all the Elves of the Second Age (and some of the Numenorean women), all the Elves of the Third Age that are actually in the books, plus Faramir, Aragorn, Bilbo, Gimli, Eowyn, and sometimes other characters as the mood takes me.
How you participate in fandom (fic reading or writing, art, etc.): I read a lot of fic, and write a fair amount too. Sometimes I make fanmixes, and one of these days (when I can acquire better equipment), I'd love to do podfics.
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): Varied, but mostly m/m or f/f set in the First Age. Lots of incest and smut.
Link(s) to your fanworks (SWG, MPTT, DeviantArt, AO3, etc.): I mainly post to Ao3 (http://archiveofourown.org/users/amyfortuna/works).
Other fandoms you participate in: I've been in tons over the years but these days it's mainly Tolkien, The Goblin Emperor, and Star Wars.
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): I'm edgeoflight (http://edgeoflight.tumblr.com) on Tumblr, and amyfortuna (http://amyfortuna.dreamwidth.org) on Dreamwidth but almost never post there.
Non-fandom interests: A mild strain of LGBT+ activism and my cat, Rey the ragdoll. (Seriously, my cat's so freaking adorable, just look at her (http://edgeoflight.tumblr.com/post/139542809078/my-favourite-of-all-animals).)

How often and what do you post: I only post exchange letters to LiveJournal these days! But I'm a bit more active on my Tumblr and post a few times every couple of days - I'm not overly active, I prefer to write stories rather than almost anything else.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: I still read my LJ friends list about once a week or so, but don't comment much. I'm much better at keeping up with my Tumblr dashboard.
Friending policy: Anyone can feel free to friend me if you wish! I am also totally happy to be messaged or sent asks on Tumblr. I especially love a nice one-on-one chat if timezones happen to line up and make it possible.

To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote? "Above all shadows rides the Sun / And stars forever dwell / I will not say the day is done / Nor bid the stars farewell."

Favorite characters: Elves, of course. :)
How you participate in fandom (fic reading or writing, art, etc.): reading and writing. Sometimes I post links that might be of interest as well.
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): Elves and to a lesser extent, Men, Dwarves and Hobbits
Link(s) to your fanworks (SWG, MPTT, DeviantArt, AO3, etc.): I make ugly, awkward links, so here is where you can find me. SWG: Alquien; AO3: laSamtyr; Faerie: Alquien. I have some things posted on lj but (I think!) nearly everything is elsewhere now.
Other fandoms you participate in: MCU, others as the mood takes me. I used to write in XFiles but those sites are long gone by now, I think. I did write in BBM but not much and again, I think those archives are gone.
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): I'm not on tumblr or twitter. I use DW mostly as a backup though I occasionally post there. I'm also on FB but I really want to try and keep anything related to fandom *very quiet*.
Non-fandom interests: Books, travel, 'all creatures great and small'

How often and what do you post: Fic is posted when finished, which is whenever my muse(s) allow. Right now RL is just plain weird; I doubt if I will write anything at all for the foreseeable future.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment:Read daily, comment occasionally.
Friending policy: Right now it's open, though that may change at any time. I don't always notice when people friend me, so be sure and introduce yourself if you do -- especially if we have a lot of friends/interests in common.

To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote? "There are other forces at work in this world besides the will of evil."

Other fandoms you participate in: True Blood/SVM
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): None
Non-fandom interests: I'm a qualified editor and proof-reader, and that's what I do for a living. So I read a lot, constantly. Other than that, my family, friends, my dog, music (the harder and heavier, the better), Quentin Tarantino, cooking, and Vienna – my all time favorite city in the world
How often and what do you post: Not that much because I'm lazy. But when I do, I write about pretty much anything: life, my dog, fandom, politics, and all that jazz. Sometimes I post my fics, photos, drawings (haven't done the latter in ages though)
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: On a daily basis, but I don't comment that often
Friending policy: My journal is f-locked, but I'm pretty much easy going and love meeting fandom people, so if you wish, feel free to friend me, and I will friend you back

Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): I have a Dreamwidth account, but don't actively use it. I'm on Tumblr, but keep to myself there, same with Twitter.
Non-fandom interests: Dogs, horses, nature, photography, birds. I'm vegan, love hiking, and my politics are progressive.

How often and what do you post: I post to LJ regularly. Personal life stuff, photographs I've taken, book and movie recs, fannish stuff about Frodo and Sam or Sean and Elijah or LOTR in general, or anything that strikes my fancy. It's a mixed bag. Everything is friends locked.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: I read it daily, try to comment often, RL permitting.

Frodo's face was peaceful, the marks of fear and care had left it; but it looked old, old and beautiful, as if the chiseling of the shaping years was now revealed in many fine lines that had before been hidden, though the identity of the face was not changed. Not that Sam Gamgee put it that way to himself. He shook his head, as if finding words useless, and murmured: "I love him. He's like that, and sometimes it shines through, somehow. But I love him, whether or no."

grey_gazania: a woman with braided hair holding a sword (daughter of kings)
From: [personal profile] grey_gazania
Username/nickname: grey_gazania / GG
Location (as general or specific as you prefer): New Jersey, the greatest state in the union!

Favorite characters: Círdan, Gil-galad, Elrond, Fingolfin, Fingon, Maedhros, Caranthir, and Ulfang & Family.
How you participate in fandom (fic reading or writing, art, etc.): Fic writing, fic reading, and occasional Tumblr meta. (Indis Defense Squad 2k4ever!)
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): Interpersonal relationships, unnamed wives, "What if So-and-So was a woman?"
Link(s) to your fanworks (SWG, MPTT, DeviantArt, AO3, etc.): I post fic on SWG and AO3.
Other fandoms you participate in: I dabble with Garth Nix's Old Kingdom series, Harry Potter, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Star Wars, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Marvel Comics/Marvel Cinematic Universe
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): I'm on Dreamwidth and Tumblr
Non-fandom interests: Libraries, children's and YA literature, Yiddish folk songs, various authors, and trying to survive grad school without tearing my hair out.

How often and what do you post: Varies depending on how busy I am with school and work. When I'm not swamped, I post sporadically on LJ/DW and more frequently on Tumblr.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: Again, it varies depending on how busy I am with school and work. When I'm not swamped, I read my flist pretty regularly. But I don't usually remember to comment.
Friending policy: Fairly strict on LJ/DW, since that's where I post more personal stuff. Much more lax on Tumblr.

To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote? "And the voice warned him not to attempt this peril; for his strength and skill would not be able to build any ship able to dare the winds and waves of the Great Sea for many long years yet. 'Abide now that time, for when it comes then will your work be of utmost worth, and it will be remembered in song for many ages after.'"

Username/nickname: kayleelupin, Kaylee Arafinwiel, or just Kaylee
Location (as general or specific as you prefer): San Jose, CA, USA

Favorite characters: My favorite to write is probably young Thranduil, or any of Thranduil's ancestors/relatives (OC or not) though I haven't explored Legolas as much.
How you participate in fandom (fic reading or writing, art, etc.): Reading, a lot. Writing, quite a bit but not as prolific as some. I began in the D-fic community (discipline fic) but Cathleen introduced me to LOTR_Gfic and I expanded from there.
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): I have an interest in all races, but I imagine the Elves will always be my first love. Relationships - I prefer canon couples and het or gen fic.
Link(s) to your fanworks (SWG, MPTT, DeviantArt, AO3, etc.): I am not sure how to link these things. I am Kaylee Arafinwiel on MPTT, on Fanfiction.net, (that might be KayleeArafinwiel though), SWG and on AO3. I'm kayleelupin on DeviantArt.
Other fandoms you participate in: Various - my fandom before Tolkien was Harry Potter (as my DeviantArt handle indicates) but I've dabbled in others as shown on my AO3. Mostly Supernatural.
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): I have a Tumblr but half the time I don't remember my login. xD However, mine and Emma's "Iathrim Chronicles" now has its own Tumblr too. Just "IathrimChronicles" I think - or it may be all lowercase.
Non-fandom interests: I like watching movies and several different TV shows - Criminal Minds is my current one. I've written some original fics. I write poetry, both Tolkien related and not.

How often and what do you post: On my own Livejournal? Hardly ever, actually. I think the last time I actually posted ON it was a couple years ago. Mostly I use it for LOTR_Community and here.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: Rarely, to be honest. *blushes* Again, my friends are all here or the LotR Community group.
Friending policy: If you want to be friends with me, sure :) I like making new friends.

To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote? Too many to list, but I particularly love "Earendil Was A Mariner".

From: [identity profile] the-wavesinger.livejournal.com
Username/nickname: The Wavesinger, but call me Wave :).
Location (as general or specific as you prefer): suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Colombo, in case anyone's interested, is the largest-but-not-very-large city in a tiny-but-not-very-tiny island in the Indian Ocean.

Favorite characters: All the female characters in the legendarium, plus Finwions? If I have to be more specific, I'd say Indis, Goldberry, and Númenórean women.
How you participate in fandom (fic reading or writing, art, etc.): Writing, edits and art mostly when nudged by events, fests, and exchanges, because I have zero motivation even for things I love doing, although I do generally post one or two ficlets a month. I read obsessively, whenever I can (and, as an aside, my goal for B2MeM is a review a day, because I have a backlog of fic I adore but were too shy to review when I first came into the fandom).
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): Femslash! Femslash and female characters.
Link(s) to your fanworks (SWG, MPTT, DeviantArt, AO3, etc.): SWG (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewuser.php?uid=564), AO3 (http://archiveofourown.org/users/The_Wavesinger), and what little gen I write MPTT (http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewuser.php?uid=367).
Other fandoms you participate in: I'm taking a plunge into the Star Wars fandom right now, and other than that...Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, probably, and maybe some others I've written fic for? I'm ridiculously multi-fandom but I mostly write/make Tolkien things.
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): I'm the-wavesinger (http://the-wavesinger.dreamwidth.org) on DW and my main fannish haunt is Tumblr, where I lurk, again, as the-wavesinger (http://the-wavesinger.tumblr.com).
Non-fandom interests: Reading. Reading everything and anything I can get my hands on, but more specifically, poetry (and currently leaning towards mid-1900's and late Victorian, but it's anything goes), fantasy, some types of science fiction, and historical fiction. Other than that, I love music, and am...capable at playing the piano. I am a compulsive hoarder, mostly of books. I love anything to do with horses, although I'm currently unable to ride, as the only non-racing, non-private stables in Sri Lanka packed up and moved half a country away.

How often and what do you post: I'm not very active on LJ and DW—I only post things which are too private for Tumblr, and these are posted under f-lock. Oh, and exchange letters on DW.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: On LJ and DW—it depends. Sometimes I obsessively go through my flist every few hours. Other times, I can go for a week or two without checking. I comment when I can/when I have something to say. On Tumblr, I usually check my dash a couple of times day. (I'm currently on holiday until mid-June—read: no exams and formal school, but still too many things to do—so I'm more active right now, but this is what is usual for me.)
Friending policy: On LJ and DW, I friend back (except in certain circumstances I'd prefer not to talk about), but I am usually not the one to make first overtures—am shy as a mouse! On Tumblr (which is less personal, for some reason) I try to follow back Tolkien blogs, but my dash is very clogged up, so if there are lots of edits/gifs with very little fandom-related text, I might be tempted to skip, although it's more likely that I forgot to follow back! I'm friendly though (I hope!), so if anyone shoots me a message I will definitely fix that!

To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote? *flounders* How to choose? If I have to, then I'd say “Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them?”

Nuredhel. It is the same on all the sites I use, Tumblr, deviantart, AO3 and Faerie and ff.net
Location:Norway, about half an hours drive south of Lillehammer
Gee, how to choose? I really like the sons of Fëanor, and the Mirkwood elves, but I just adore almost every character in the books so I don’t have a specific favorite I think, well, maybe Maedhros
I write fan fiction and I do also draw and paint some fan art
My main interest I think has to be Maedhros and Fingon, I have drawn a lot of images of those two. And then Thranduil comes in at a second and the sons of Elrond at a good number three I think. I like shipping them all with OC’s as well as other characters from the books
I am Nuredhel on deviant art, AO3 and Fanfiction.net and Faerie pluss some more. Just search for my nick and you will find me
I have a few stories from the Forgotten realms fandom, I really like Drizzt, and the concept of dark skinned elves
I use tumblr, inkitt, AO3, Faerie. Fanfiction.net Deviant art and I have my own website skogtrollet.net although that one is in Norwegian
That is a loong list, but first and foremost I write, I am a self published writer and I have about 27 titles out on the market. Most of it is fantasy and four of the books are anthologies with short stories, both fantasy and sci fi, and they are in english. The rest is in Norwegian. I write most fantasy, but I have some sci fi ideas too. Then I do draw and paint, I paint space art with planets and stars and so on and landscapes. I draw fantasy mages as well. I do also love photography and I am a very eager amateur nature photographer. I do design and make beaded jewelry, have been doing that for some years and I like many different techniques, I have even given classes. I love nature, and hiking is my great passion. The forests and mountains are constantly calling me, and I feel at peace while in the woods. I love animals and work as a farm worker, I do also like music a lot. I am a metal head I fear, and my style is a bit gothic. I like old fashioned clothing, like medieval and victorian styles and I regard myself as a pagan/wiccan
I post on tumblr almost every day, images and stuff and I do update my fan fic stories as often as I can. Unfortunately I cannot spend each day just writing fan fic, I have to work and make some money and I have a novel project I have to finish soon. Deadlines suck big time!
As often as possible, I am rather active on tumblr and follow a lot of stuff, it is awesome
Friending policy: Quite open, feel free to check out my tumblr and my other stuff too
To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote? Oh dear, how can anyone chose here? There are too many amazing quotes and I think all of Tolkiens works are stunning!

To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote?
"I can't make out the words," said Frito.

"No, you cannot," said Goodgulf. "They are Elvish, in the tongue of Fordor. A rough translation is:

"This Ring, no other, is made by the elves,
Who'd pawn their own mother to grab it themselves.
Ruler of creeper, mortal and scallop,
This is a sleeper that packs quite a wallop.
The Power almighty rests in this Lone Ring.
The Power, alrighty, for doing your Own Thing.
If broken or busted, it cannot be remade.
If found, send to Sorhed (the postage is prepaid)."

"Shakestoor, it isn't," said Frito, hurriedly putting the Ring back in his shirt pocket...

Username/nickname: [livejournal.com profile] lalwen (LJ), merihobu (AO3).
Location (as general or specific as you prefer): Currently potato Europe for most of the year.

Favourite characters: Glorfindel, Maedhros, Celeborn.
How you participate in fandom (fic reading or writing, art, etc.): With a tiny handful of very short fics and occasional fic-reading (usually too shy to comment though). I have lurked in this fandom on and off for over a decade but only recently(ish) started writing fic, and still don't quite dare to approach people of my own accord but am usually more than happy to talk if approached.
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): Gondolin. I see some similarities between it and my home country (namely: small, rich, probably overpopulated, multicultural, etc.) so developing headcanons is easy and amusing. Other than that, I mostly stick to First Age Elves, and my favourite relationships are Maedhros/Fingon, Glorfindel/Ecthelion, and Celeborn/Galadriel.
Link(s) to your fanworks (SWG, MPTT, DeviantArt, AO3, etc.): AO3 (http://archiveofourown.org/users/merihobu/works).
Other fandoms you participate in: None.
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): None currently relevant to this fandom.
Non-fandom interests: Languages (speak 3, currently learning 3+1), reading, the Arctic, travelling, cute stationery, minimalism (yes I know the last two sound quite contradictory).

How often and what do you post: Sometimes once a month, sometimes once a week, sometimes almost every day. My posts are 99% personal and -- contrary to my stories -- tend to be pretty TL;DR with a fair bit of whining and self-indulgent navel-gazing. I also occasionally picspam (mostly stuff cross-posted from Instagram).
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: I check my friendslist several times a week (it's pretty dead rn though) but only comment when I have something to say, which could range from every other entry to sporadically depending on person.
Friending policy: Friend and defriend at your leisure (please let me know for the former; feel free to do the latter at your own discretion). I might not feel comfortable adding someone with very conservative opinions, though.

To finish off: what’s your favourite Tolkien quote? Here are some I can think of right now:

– "It was at this point that Bilbo stopped. Going on from there was the bravest thing he ever did. The tremendous things that happened afterwards were as nothing compared to it. He fought the real battle in the tunnel alone, before he ever saw the vast danger that lay in wait."

– "‘I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.’"

– "‘All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.’"

– "‘Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.’"

– "There is a seed of courage hidden (often deeply, it is true) in the heart of the fattest and most timid hobbit, waiting for some final and desperate danger to make it grow."

– "Glorfindel was tall and straight; his hair was of shining gold, his face fair and young and fearless and full of joy; his eyes were bright and keen, and his voice like music; on his brow sat wisdom, and in his hand was strength."

– The song Sam sings at the tower of Cirith Ungol.

– "‘Do not be too sad, Sam. You cannot be always torn in two. You will have to be one and whole, for many years. You have so much to enjoy and to be, and to do.’"

– "‘I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil.’"

Favorite characters:This is hard because usually it’s whoever I’m writing at the moment and depends on the phase of my Tolkien fascination. When I first read it way back when, my favorites were Gandalf, Frodo, Sam, Elrond and Galadriel. When first in the fandom it was definitely Legolas, and Elladan and Elrohir, a bit later Glorfindel and Erestor. When I changed to Silmarillion stories, favorites included Fëanor, Elrond, Finrod, my version of Oropher, Mablung, Beleg and lately I’m enjoying Glorfindel again and Ecthelion. My Númenor fic caused me to delve into Sauron as a character and I find him fascinating.
How you participate in fandom:writing, research, reading & reviewing, beta work, socializing, cheerleading, My Slashy fic swaps, LJ.
Main interests in your Tolkien fanworks (characters, races, relationships, etc): See above favorite characters. Main interests are elves, slashy relationships, the tension between desire and cultural restrictions, and between mortality and immortality.
Link(s) to your fanworks:
I’ve had fics in many archives over the years, now mostly shrunk to SWG (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewuser.php?uid=66), Faerie (http://efiction.esteliel.de/viewuser.php?uid=43), AO3 (http://archiveofourown.org/users/elfscribe)
Other fandoms you participate in: I’ve written fics in the Mary Renault “Alexander”; Ellen Kushner “Swordspoint” series; Storm Constantine “Wraeththu” series; Diana Gabaldon “Lord John” series. Those fics reside on AO3. Storm published one of my Wraeththu novellas in a collection of fanfiction called Paragenesis. I’ve read stories in a variety of other fandoms. I believe strongly in leaving reviews when I've read and enjoyed a story. Reviews=fandom currency.
Other sites you use (Tumblr, Dreamwidth, etc.): Livejournal mostly. I have a rarely used Tumblr account.
Non-fandom interests: history, archaeology, writing, science fiction/fantasy, politics
How often and what do you post:It’s sporadic. I’ve had periods of hiatus and then come back.
How often you read your friends-list and/or comment: At least several times a week, often daily.
Friending policy:Most of my posts are f-locked but I welcome new friends. If you send me an LJ message, I’ll respond and if we have similar interests, especially if you're in the Tolkien fandom, I’ll friend you back.
To finish off: what’s your favorite Tolkien quote?Oh, so many! Bilbo’s poem I sit beside the fire and think . . .“I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see.” It makes me cry every time. Sam’s song in the tower of Cirth Ungol, “Though here at journey’s end I lie in darkness buried deep, beyond all towers strong and high, beyond all mountains steep, above all shadows rides the Sun and Stars forever dwell: I will not say the Day is done, nor bid the Stars farewell.”
“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.” “It’s a dangerous business going out your door. You step onto the road and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no telling where you might be swept off to.”
“Never laugh at live dragons.”
